Shimla has always been a magnet for artists and writers. One such artist from West Bengal established an Art Gallery there. Sanat Chatterjee, a world-renowned artist who gained fame by creating the longest paintings in the world on silk with watercolor, has a residence in Shimla. The house, named Artists’ Residency by his son Him Chatterjee, boasts a collection of art not only by the father and son but also from some of India’s famous artists.
We can arrange a trip for you to visit the gallery and even interact with Him, (subject to his availability).

Program
Drive to the Art Gallery
Leave your hotel at around 10.00 AM and reach the Art Gallery at 10.30 AM. The house appears to be built in Tudor style but all types of modern materials have been used in designing it.
Art Gallery
The Art Gallery is divided into two parts. Part one displays the work of Son – Him Chatterjee and Part two displays the elegant work of his father Mr. Sanat Chatterjee. The tour will take around one hour to see and understand the styles of art the deo have used in their respective paintings. Mrs. Sanat Chatterjee’s work is more based on Hindu Mythology. It speaks about his study of the mythological stories, on its own whereas Him’s work is more based on nature.
Bar-be-Que and Dinner
After the tour hot lunch waits for you in the garden or the dining hall. Later interact more with the artist and then return to the hotel

This Heritage Home still holds the old ambiance with its English Garden around and antique furniture inside. The high doors, grand windows, high ceilings, and thick walls play a vital role in making this house a colonial house.

Program
Your Evening in a Colonial Home
Leave from your hotel at around 6.00 PM and reach the Heritage Home in Shimla by 6.30 PM. The name of this Heritage Home is Groom Bridge and is located in the spur of Bharari, below the police parade ground.
This Heritage Home is the ancestral home of Mr. Vijay Suri. His grandfather Mr. Bikram Chand Sawhney, a senior civil servant, gave this house to his daughter and then she gave it to her son, Vijay. Originally a Railway Engineer, Herbert Mantague Waller had built this house in 1895. You enter the house and you enter a different world. Lovely garden around the house welcomes you. They have decorated the sitting room with antique furniture and paintings. Their presence provides a different feel and you start thinking of the past.
Groombridge Cottage
During the Raj, the Brits built a number of houses in Shimla, and in the other hill stations. Groombridge is one of them. This Heritage Home is a marvel example of British architecture. Bharari is an extended ridge that bifurcates towards the north of Shimla and sprouts from Elisiyum hill, the second-highest hill of the town. The area has many age-old houses, some abandoned and some still inhabited.
Bar-be-Que and Dinner
After an amazing experience in this colonial bungalow, proceed for a sit-down biryani dinner with the host. You are welcome to walk into the kitchen where your meal is being prepared. Or just enjoy the warm hospitality of Vijay and listen to his hilarious jokes as well.
