∗   5-star Rating

We take you for a Forest Walk in Shimla and a descent, wow. What else do you want to go? This Forest Walk offers some amazing views of the Great Himalayan Ranges from the starting point. The initial stretch of this Forest Walk is wide enough and leads you through a trail of mixed forest of cedars, oaks, Ravinia, horse chestnut, pines, and spruce trees.

The Walk

We shall walk down to the village bazaar where the real glimpses of the hill life remain scattered here and there. A shoemaker, a sweetmeat shop, a lady tailor, a few grocery shops, and a few taxi divers looking for some business from every outsider are the main features of the bazaar. There are a few old but big size houses built by the British in the area due to its isolation and the views. These houses now are used by Indian organizations or families.

After the initial stretch of this Forest Walk in Shimla, we reach a village bazaar. This bazaar still has old shops, houses, and a Post-Office. A few buildings built by the British are there, now used by the Indian families. Here you will have real glimpses of hill lifestyle.

Cedar Forest

Continue to descend to the forest and the narrow trail leads you to the thick cedars where some of them are as old as four hundred years.

An Old Temple

Temples and Shrines in the hills can be found everywhere, even on the roadsides. There are some old ancient temples with a legend behind them whereas some of them are also known for their architecture and faith of people. Here a tiny structure of a temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva stands alone in the middle of the forest.

The last stretch.

The initial part of this portion is steep descend but soon it joins a leveled trail that passes through the fires and some tiny hamlets adopted on the hill slopes.

We finish the walk near a primary school, next to the road. The driver waits for us here.
