Christ Church in Shimla is one of the most prominent landmarks of the town. Your local Shimla Walks friend and mentor will meet you there. Kindly be there at least ten minutes in advance.
The walk begins from the Christ Church, located at the western shoulder of Jakhu Hill – the highest hill of Shimla, and extends east till the Viceregal Lodge, now the Indian Institute of Advanced Study. We start with a talk about the history of Shimla. Although it is not a very old town still its history of two hundred years of history is full of interesting stories of its making and development. In this Heritage Walk, you will have the best of Shimla that talks through its buildings, history, and lifestyle.

Christ Church and the Ridge and the story of Shimla.
Now it is time to visit the building of the Gaiety Theatre Heritage Complex. This is the hub of cultural activities in Shimla even today. A tour of the Victorian hall along with its art gallery and the ventilation tunnel (subject to open) and its stage where Rudyard Kipling performed once, is worth it. The ambiance of the hall takes you back to the bygone era. Go to the stage or just have a view of the hall from the Viceroys Box. Next, you will be taken to the upper gallery from there the Ariel view of the hall compelled you to drop your jaw.
After this, a visit to Scandal Point and a number of old buildings such as Gaiety theatre, General Post Office, Bantony, Betink’s Castle, Imperial Bank, Railway Board Building, and the view of Annandale Ground adds some more taste to your day.

We start again after the break and continue our walk. The last building and the highlight of the walk are the building o Viceregal Lodge, now converted into the Institute of Advanced Study. A tour inside the building is a must and this will give you the actual feel of the bygone era.
Finish your tour and our services end here. You may choose to walk back to your hotel or taxis are available at the entry gate of the Viceregal Lodge.

After the break, we start again. A one and a half kilometer walk through the forested road bring us to the building of Viceregal Lodge. A tour of this historical complex is the highlight of the walk. After the tour, our services end.
