Nature Walk in Shimla

We were the first ones to explore and design this Nature Walk in Shimla and we named it Pens & Brushes.  Pens, because it starts from the house of Rudyard Kipling, and Brushes because it ends at an Art Gallery. Kipling was an eminent writer who spent about three years of his youth in Shimla, initially in a house called Tendrils. The Art Gallery where this Nature Walk ends has been established in the name of a legendary artist from India, Mr. Sanat Chatterjee.

This Nature Walk in Shimla brings you directly in touch with the hill villages, brooks, rivulets, meadows, grasslands, and forests. This is an amazing experience in the closes vicinity of Shimla where you do not feel that you are in town and still you are in the forest. The traditional way of living of people in the rural areas is very close to Shimla.

Detail Itinerary

Kipling's House

You will be surprised on reading the name of this Nature Walk n Shimla – Pen and Brushes. We have named it so because this walk is a blend of Heritage, Nature, Culture, and, Art. Pens because it begins from Rudyard Kipling’s House and Brushes because it ends at an Art Gallery, made in the name of a legendy artist Mr. Sanat Chatterjee.

Gol Pahari - A Haunted Hill

Gol Pahari or a circular hill is a public park now but the legend says that the place is haunted by the ghosts of some soldiers who can be seen parading through the forest, sometimes even during the day. This is also the first point on the Nature Walk in Shimla that gives you the feel of the forest. The pines here are shady and thick

A Meadow and another Village

This meadow is a grassy plot for the cattle of the village. Hardly any foreigner ever came to this side of the town. Have a break here, and enjoy the drink and the light refreshment that your guide has brought for you. It is nice to sit on the grass here and look around to understand the direction of Shimla from here. After taking some rest, you have to walk downhill again to cross a rivulet and another village.

The Art Gallery

We shall finish our Nature walk in this art gallery after the tour of the gallery, we drive back to Shimla and drop you at your hotel.
